@Ultramarine777 to explain a bit more—several of the freshman classes are required—freshman seminar, health (yes health), freshman writing (unless you use AP credits to bypass) etc. Once you get past those you can start looking at some other courses. If you’re applying to Goizueta, you’ll need Macro and Micro Econ. If you’re looking at dual degree I imagine you would need Calculus at some level. You can register for those as a freshman but they don’t save seats for perspective GBS students. My S was able to take MV Calc and Micro as a first semester freshman. The registration process is a bit complicated so I won’t go into it here, but you will have access to the basic into courses as a freshman.
@collegemom9 I haven’t submitted all the parent tax forms either

@DSOF20192023 My daughter is a current junior at Emory. She was able to do research her freshman and sophomore years at Oxford and has now, as a junior, done research with 3-4 different professors and has a paper currently under consideration but she is not premed. She is a sociology major. That said because Oxford students have so much access to their professors in Oxford’s small classes, there are great research opportunities. My daughter’s roommate was very advanced and basically had a full year of extra credits. She was able to move to main campus 1 semester early in order to access particular classes she needed (for her triple major!) so that is an option too but you have to be able to demonstrate that some key classes you need are only available on the main campus to move early. I believe in the roommates case it was higher level German classes. The Pre Med requirements are available at Oxford and many students, mine included, prefer the Oxford classes which are often experiential and discussion based with under 20 kids in a class.
@chemmchimney that really helps, thank you.
@TheTennisNinja, hey! I’m not sure if you have answered this, but how can i appeal?
@fanofthemcu I know that during admitted student’s day, you can talk to the financial aid officers directly. If you can’t go, you can always send an email or something.
i know this is a very “out there” type of question but i want to go to emory undergrad, and then move on to grad school. obviously the expenses are high. what loans and stuff should i look into?
@purplecattt what did your EFC say?
Call Oxford finaid today and see if there was a mistake.
What does everyone else’s finaid package look like… Is it what you expected or disappointing?
Emory met every penny of our financial need. They were very generous.
Emory meet every bit of our financial need also, which is zero. We are in that area where we make too much for any financial aid but not enough to be able to afford to pay $70k per kid per year for college. DD will likely go with one of the in-state options of UVA, William and Mary, or Virginia Tech. Emory would have been great…
@emorynavy mines really high (i think lol?) it’s over 100,000
@AMariaDas same position. i just got in and i really want to go. but i’m not getting aid or merit… i need to figure this out!
I’m confursed about those getting no need. Did you run the NPC before applying? Did you think you’d get aid even with high EFC’s? Or were you hoping for merit?
D financial aid is quite close to net price calculator. She also got Deans Loan Replacement; anyone can explain the meaning of this Loan Replacement? Does it mean that it’s kind of grant from Emory? We got separate line saying Emory University Grant.
Based on Emory’s website, it appears that she might get another $2000/year, if she choose Emory as first choice by being NMF.
Same here
@mapar2019 the loan replacement is a grant. Doesn’t need to be paid back.
