@literaturechoi how long have you played? what is your major? Do they really look at your talents in playing cello? And also I think we receive admission decision the same date as the other applicants. It seems that all people that got additional request from Department of Music played cello.
@elenaaaaaa I have played the cello for 12 years now. I’m an English major, for reference. I think they base their recruitment on your skill level/ assess the level at which you play (Which can’t be described numerically or verbally on the common app). I got a request for both vocal and cello, so I don’t think that a majority of those asked were cellists. I’m assuming they got a list from the admissions board of certain students that piqued their attention and are seeking to validate the skills we listed under our common-app (i.e. supplement). Though, I’ve scoured across the entire internet to see if these requests mean anything, and I can’t find anything that say for certain that they do have a definitive impact on our applications.
hopefully a alumni passerby can correct me on this and shed some light on requested supplements at Emory.
@elenaaaaaa @literaturechoi He has played for 9 years. submitted the recording but haven’t received any response yet.
hey guys! i got accepted EDII to emory and i have a question about anyone doing sports at emory - should i tell the coach (xc and track) that i got accepted? is there any running gear that he is supposed to send over…? sorry this is all completely new to me so im just finding all the info i can possibly get!! thank you
good luck!!
Does anyone know if they are considering an applicant for art recruitment they will look past scores that are a little bit lower?
@literaturechoi well I’ve only played for 2 years. I think as long as we submit the supplement it will have positive impact. If ppl do not submit, the Admission Office then do not know how to access you then, they might think the information you have on common app is false. I did not get any other request from other universities I applied. Guess Emory is just interested in art student?
@kucingbella sorry for the late reply. I play the violin. I’ve been playing for about 12 or 13 years.
when are they releasing results for RD
For everyone wondering about music supplements, I sent in 3 of mine, got an email back from the head of the voice dept. saying he really liked them, heard absolutely nothing else, and was admitted ED 2 about 2 weeks later. I had test scores on the lower side and I believe my supplement helped.
@LHS2017 was your result earlier than the other people?
Did any of you receive interviews?
No interview for me );
No interview for my D.
Emory does not currently give interviews in many states.
We have not heard anything from Emory. Crickets…
@runnermom33 I understand, but they stated that they offer interviews in a city thats kind of closeby. Maybe they only interviewed students specifically from that city instead of the general area.
My D lives in a city where they supposedly do interviews and she was never contacted.
Regarding the music supplements: my son was in the Texas All State orchestra, his grades and scores are highly competitive for Emory- he had a supplement requested, but has not gotten a response. I don’t think no response is a bad sign- unless you want to be a music major or were hoping for a music scholar award.
