I am admitted to both. I wish my future professional be in medical field. Can somebody advise me which one is bettter in terms of intership, premed programs, advise for preparing to enter medical school, network etc..

Hey, Im admitted to both as well!
Emory does have a reputation for being a good science school, whereas Georgetown is less than stellar for pre-med and natural sciences. But pre-med is really more about your own grades than anything else and you can make it there from either school.

They should both offer research/internship opportunities, good premed advising, and the network to get into medical school if there’s a such thing. But Emory is stronger at sciences, and would probably offer more research opportunities in sciences.

I think you should look at other aspects of those schools because you’ll be spending 4 years, and there’s a lot more to school than just grad school.

This is what you need to keep in mind. At which school do you think you have the better chance of a higher GPA?

I’d go with Georgetown

Biased though I may be, Emory places far more attention on the medical fields than Georgetown, probably owing to the next door location of the CDC. Science classes are quite rigorous, and a huge number of its students get into medical school. Emory is currently expanding its hospital, one of the best in the region, and pouring money into its NBB program. The only real issue premeds seem to encounter is a lack of certificate program. That is, Emory doesn’t offer undergraduate certificates in applied medical fields (not exactly sure what that means, but I’ve heard that complaint from someone who decided being a doctor wasn’t right for her).

Do you have any alternate interests in mind if the premed track doesn’t work out for you?

Thank you all. Given that I have been offered scholarship 15K per year at Emory but I did not get any scholarship from Georgetown, is that worth to go to Emory for the money? Any advise are appreciated.

If it was my kid, a 15K advantage (60K over 4 years) with an impeccable pre-med reputation (and still great school if you shift into another academic area) is close to a no-brainer unless your heart is just set on G’town and money is not an issue.

Absolutely go to Emory. These are peer schools and you are doing pre-med, where Emory probably has a slight advantage anyways.
