I am trying to decide. Help me! Which school has stronger academics? Also, which one has a better reputation? Finally, where I am I more likely to get better job placement after my undergraduate degree? Thanks guys.

I don’t think you can really score colleges with any precision.
Have you visited both schools? Which one did you like better?

Yea, they’re really different. Emory’s more serious/pre-professional. Tufts is more… hipster/weird.

At least that’s how I felt when I was choosing.

Emory and Tufts are both elite colleges and there are some similarities between the two schools. I do agree with aluminum boat who accentuates a difference between the two student bodies. Chazsf is also right; it would help to visit both places, because it’s all about the best fit. In terms of reputation, many people look at USNews rankings. Emory is #20, Tufts is #29. Oddly enough, I have family members who go to/went to each of these two colleges. Both are great, but personally I would choose Emory as I like the vibe at Emory, it’s perceived as being better academically, and the weather is nicer.

I am a Senior waiting to hear back from Emory this upcoming week. I also just visited campus for the first time last weekend. It was the most impressive visit yet.

The biggest concern I hear is the lack of school spirit, which I could definitely see being an issue. There aren’t any good sports for students to rally around. However, school spirit is exemplified in different ways. Don’t think for a second the students aren’t proud of where they attend. I saw numerous students proudly adorned in Emory apparel, and anybody would be happy to brag about the academic prestige that will come with a degree from such a selective and rigorous institution.

The campus was the prettiest of any I have seen. However, I hope to visit USC in a few weeks and I anticipate their campus being a definite rival. Emory’s buildings are in great shape, the interiors are very modern and well-kept, and the landscaping was beautiful.

Being in such close proximity to Atlanta gives the school endless benefits, including internship and job opportunities, as well as an urban hub to entertain students on weekends.

I will agree with the above posters that the students seemed very driven and professional. IMO, it was almost too much so, and I would say this is my biggest concern with the school. People who are uptight and competitive are often difficult to get along with and may inhibit having a good time, which is definitely a part of the college experience. However, I’m sure that with an enrollment the size of Emory’s, there will all different kinds of individuals of all different personalities and interests in all categories.

I can’t offer any input on Tufts. While I know the school, I never applied or really got into researching it. I know where it falls on USnews, but that’s about it.

Preppy kid…Emory VS Tufts…I agree you need to look at each school for their strengths to find out which is best for you. They have some very different programs from each other and then some that overlap. If you know your area of interest I would encourage you to look at how the schools compare.

I looked at both Emory and Tufts, but decided to go to Emory.
–Academically, my interest is in Business and Science. Tufts does not have a Business School and the science is very strong at Emory.
–Socially, I know kids that go to both Tufts and Emory. I would agree aluminum_boat that the Tufts kids are different/wierd. They are so busy being different that sometimes they really do not bond together very well. I know there are normal kids at Tufts as well, just my limited perspective. I know kids at Emory that are in a Fraternity and they are having a great time together. My friends at Emory are also very involved in athletics, both D3 and intramural and love it as well.

I also think that if academically the programs you are interested in are similiar, I would choose Emory because it is considered a better school.Since your screen name is preppy kid, I thought I would mention that I think there are more “preppy” kids at Emory than Tufts.

I don’t think you can make a bad decision between Tufts and Emory. You need to do your research and go with what school fits you best. Good luck! I hope you will be joining us at Emory in the fall!
