@aarybalkar Emory hasn’t shown me financial aid, but I will let you know once I find out if it’s any good.
any updates on if the waitlist is still continuing?
Congratulations to all who were accepted from the wait list. Some schools don’t offer students admitted from wait lists money, but Emory is need based and most certainly does.
@aarybalkar If I attend Emory, my mom would’ve been out of $9k compared to the $4k she will have to pay at Vanderbilt. Due to that, I had to decline my offer of admission at Emory, and I remained committed to Vanderbilt. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors, and I hope you get accepted into Emory if that’s your #1 choice school!
Hey guys, I was accepted off the Emory waitlist last week (was accepted into Oxford College but choose not to attend). I turned down the offer so I hope it goes to one of you guys if you are still waiting.
Hi! My daughter has been waitlisted at Emory and 4 other schools. Between covid and this it has been quite stressful. It’s May 22, she has not gotten off of any of her waitlists, and I’m getting a little nervous. We’ve been in constant contact with Emory - LOCIs, addl recs, you name it- and just a few brief responses. She is also a double legacy. Anyone know if Emory will continue to pull from the waitlist? What are your thoughts?
Hi @peachmom4 I am pretty certain they will continue to pull due to covid and many students changing plans last minute.
Thanks glass. I am a dual graduate, and Emory holds very special memories for me. Plus, I can totally see her there. We visited UGA today ( her safety where she was accepted in March), and it just didn’t feel right, despite the fact that she’s trying to make the best of it, G-d bless her. It hurts me to believe that my own alma mater, would not accept my daughter right out of the gate, given that her stats?.
@Peachmom4 Good luck. I am not sure how much Admissions values legacy status after the ED rounds. Hopefully, it will make a difference for you. They are going to announce the opening plan in three weeks, so we’ll see what impact that has. I can’t see the federal government allowing travel to the US from many of the countries of admitted students, but who knows how they will deal with that?
@ljberkow, yes I know they lean heavily on the ED applicants, but unfortunately I couldn’t convince her to go ED at the time. They mention some legacy consideration, but not much. We’ve been trying to communicate with the admissions office, but the answers have seen very general in nature. Do you know if they’re done with the waitlist or if they plan to ask for continued interest, etc?
Your guess is as good as anybody’s as to whether they are done with the process. It sounds like your daughter is covering all of her bases with Admissions and that always helps.
Got an email from Emory saying they have already pulled 80 waitlists from Emory College and 15 from Oxford, and this year they may enroll students from waitlist through July.
@karen07 - yes we got that email too! Fingers crossed for all of us???!!
Just got accepted off the waitlist for Computer Science at Emory!
I was shocked when I received an email from Emory that I got off the waitlist! I previously declined my admissions offer to Oxford, but now I’m reconsidering since I can attend the main campus. Right now I’m committed to UW-Madison, which I love so much. My dad also attended Emory, so I’m a legacy. No LOCI. I know for some this would be an easy choice, but they are so different so I don’t know what I’m going to do. Emory is also 20k/year more than UW.
Just got off the waitlist at Emory College. They specified in the email (guys check your emails!!!) that “The Admission Committee has personally selected you to be one of the final offers of admission for the Emory Class of 2024. Given your academic and intellectual excellence, we see great potential for your fit with our rigorous and vibrant campus community.” They also said that there are currently 1,300 students on the waitlist. I have one day (by the end of June 4th) to reply to their offer. Now I only have a day to make this very difficult decision between Emory and UCLA…
Background: 3.63 UW/4,2 W (I ■■■■■■ up my freshman year gpa), 1510 SAT (760/750), decent essays and ecs, didn’t send them anything after being waitlisted (except confirming that I am still interested). They accepted about 3 students from my school this year, and nobody ended up attending Emory (in the past years, we have had one student every year who ended up going to Emory
I hope this would help you guys! Good luck!

Got off waitlist for Emory College. I was accepted into Oxford but I paid the deposit to UNC Chapel Hill. Now not really sure which one but I will have to decide by tomorrow. I would go to Emory, but it is 75,000 compared to UNC which is only 24,000. I did not get any financial aid for Oxford so not expecting anything for Emory. Tough choice.
Stats: 4.3something weighted and 3.9something unweighted, 1440 SAT (740/700), great essay and ecs, did not send anything extra for waitlist. Asian male with 1st gen parents.
My D got off the waitlist yesterday as well for Emory College. She has already committed to Scripps which she is now pretty excited about. She is going to accept the offer - you then have 7 days to decide. We will see the financial aid package which comes out within 48 hours. Scripps was pretty generous.
can you let us know how generous emory’s fin aid is?
