I’ve noticed that a lot of people have EMT certifications and claim to have gotten them when they were 16 years old. I currently live in Georgia and the official Georgia website says that I can only get EMT certification if I’m 18 years or older. Is there a different type of certification for EMT that I could get given my age?
@rokun123 Glad you raised this question so that can get input from others from various states. Same questions popped when reviewing students with EC in EMT and Physician shadowing. In CA also you can not get EMT certification until 18 years old. Unitek college told can not take class (it is too expensive, not sure about its worth) until 18 years. Also in CA Physicians told can not do any shadowing due to some legal issues and need some special insurance. So felt at disadvantage in the area where all these BS/MD programs are expecting and other states students are able to gain experience and demonstrate for trying out medicine profession. It is too late for my D as a senior and already applied for BS/MD programs. Hope others provide input to you so that you can better prepare yourself. GL.
