I have quick clarification about this. My friend told me that English Composition 3 NEVER accepts people who are on the wait list, so unless you enroll in the class somehow (someone drops) it's impossible to get into the class if you are on the wait list.

Is this true? Or does this depend on the professor? Does anyone have an experience they can share?

Since enrollment opened today, I'm number 1 on the wait list for a lecture, and it's 22/22 right now...and I don't know if I should still pursue it. If I know this is a lost cause, then I'd rather sign up for something else.

Adding a full English Comp class seems to depend on the professor. The full waitlist is usually NOT enrolled. And since it looks like the enrollment cap has been raised over previous years, it may be a bit harder to get into a full class this year.

Based on past experience, though, if you’re first on the waitlist, you’ll very likely get in, perhaps even before the class even starts. If you don’t get bumped before the first day of class, you will probably get a PTE number during the first week, as there should be at least one non-attendee (if not a few) and enrollment is canceled if a student doesn’t show during the first two meetings.

Honestly, I think you’ll get in somehow. I was forth on an English Comp waitlist last quarter and first by the day before the class started, and I must have gotten bumped in the night/early morning before class because I was off the waitlist by the time roll was called! Also, the professor added people off the waitlist until there were 25 enrolled.

yea, waitlist isn’t too bad. they generally accept 2-3 off the waitlist because of drops. don’t think they expand the actual class size in general though. best to get into the actual class of course :)
