Engineering and greek life

I'm majoring in ECE. I'm also interested in greek life for the social aspects. I'm confident in my ability to balance partying and school.

However, my concern is the networking potential when in a fraternity vs outside of one. I understand that for business majors fraternities make for great long term connection, but how true is this for engineering? Would I miss out on GDI connections? Or is networking as an engineer of little concern at this level?

Could any engineers in fraternities give me a summary of their experience?

No, being a GDI would not make you miss out on possible networking connections. If you are so concerned about missing out on supposed ‘GDI connections,’ you can join one of numerous engineering clubs or programs on campus. Really, you can join any club, pre-professional or just for fun, that can give you access to networking opportunities. It’s really about what you make of it. Being in a fraternity certainly will not hinder your networking opportunities, and I would say that greek life can help you network in many ways.
