anyone else applying for NEU engineering??! if sooo what major?

I applied for chemical engineering EA!

chemE EA… I love NEU!

My son applied EA for ChemE

is chemical engineering at NEU really popular?

undeclared engineering…

undeclared engineering.

i am undeclared engineering too! did you get in?

I applied and was accepted as a Civil Engineering major

I’m also a girl, and I’m glad to see a rise in female engineers :)

high five debussy also civil E

I applied to NEU EA as undeclared engineering major (Female)

I have a 4.0 and have taken every demanding course my high school offers…
(Class rank 11/326)

Junior Year-
AP Calc (A+, A)
AP US History(A, A+)
AP English (A, A)

Senior Year-
AP Chemistry (A+)
AP English (A)
Honors Physics (A+) and next semester I am switching into AP Physics (without taking the entire course…I want to show college admissions staff that I am looking to challenge myself)

I play Girls Varsity Lacrosse
I have received many Faculty Awards in Math and Science
I am in Interact Club, Student Council, Humanitarian Club, Debate Club, and in the Student Leadership Organization

I am not an excellent standardized test taker; however,
SATs-
630 Math
610 Writing (10 on my essay)
560 Critical Reading

ACTs-
31 Math
29 English
22 Reading
22 Science
(10 on my essay)

I was deferred to Regular Decision; however many other people from my school who are significantly lower than me with class rank and GPA were accepted…

What were your statistics? Where did I fall short??

620* Writing SAT

Rank: Top 3% (11/326)

i really think it was your scores.

i have a 3.1 GPA and got in with a 700 math score and a 530 CR score

they probably look at math scores more cause it IS engineering

i never got above a 82 in a math class but i do go to an intense public school that is VERY competitive and there is NO grade inflation. so that probably factors in

I just sent them my ACT scores with a 31 in Math. Hopefully that will help?
I am not a great standardized test taker, and I don’t see how they could judge that on one test. I got an A+ in AP Calc and I don’t understand how they could weigh math on the SAT over math in AP Calc??

Chances of getting in RD? with/ without scholarship?

most likely because you didn’t show enough interest

I attended a tour and information session and emailed the assistant director of the Women in Engineering Program. What else could I have done?

Maybe they are just testing you. If you let them know neu is your top choice you should be able to make it

Thanks. Any other ways to strengthen my application? I want to make certain that I will be accepted RD - its my first choice.

if your school has grade inflation its easier to get an A in AP calc then get a get a high SAT score in math.
