Engineers of UW - A couple of questions about admissions and engineering pre-reqs

Hey guys, I am high school senior from Spokane, Washington. I applied to UW and am eager to hear back from the admissions office this month (fingers crossed!). I indicated ChemE as my desired major and am hoping to get direct admission. However, I have begun to second guess my decision and am now leaning towards EE. I have made a couple posts earlier in this forum, and my mind is still all over the place, so bear with me!

Does anyone know if it is typical and acceptable for students who may have received direct admission, to end up switching majors?

Recently I have been surfing the web looking for some admission statistics on the various departments in order to get a feel for the requirements to get in. I know how important it is to keep a high GPA in your pre-req classes. I found the page on UW’s site that mentions the average GPA for consideration, but beyond that, there isn’t much. So, I was wondering if any student with a valid netID could take a look at this page: https://www.ee.washington.edu/operations/advising/UGAdmissionsStatistics.html
And provide me with a little information on what the statistics are for the EE department?

Back to the topic of pre-req courses, is it plausible for your typical honors high school student to hope for above a 3.5 in engineering pre-reqs at UW? I am taking AP calculus AB and have a high A. And my other AP science classes have ranged anywhere between a mid B to high A. My question is how hard are the pre-req courses/weed out courses? Any insight would be awesome!

I would also love to hear anyone’s experiences within the engineering department at UW, whether it be good or bad. I am a naive high school student so any advice or insight is invaluable to me.

Thanks so much for the help! Go Dawgs!
