I can't find Eng 29 anywhere on the course lists. Can I use it as a humanities credit? If so, would it be as an ALP?

Read what I said in this thread (post #390) about placeholder AP Credits:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/duke-university/894881-duke-student-s-taking-questions-26.html

Also, while I’m not 100% sure, I don’t think AP credits counts for any area of knowledge. It’s used to satisfy certain graduation requirements in the general you-get-credit kind of sense if that’s what you elect to do with it. But you most likely will still have to do all of the T-reqs.

Edit: here are the official policies:

http://trinity.duke.edu/academic-requirements?p=graduation-requirements

AP Credits do not count towards areas of knowledge or modes of inquiry requirements. They are to be used for placement purposes and 2 can count towards the general 34-credit graduation requirement.

Thanks for your help.
I’m actually in Pratt so just thinking about the 5 general requirement classes I have to take.

In that case, you are in the same situation as I was freshmen year. Yes, AP English/Comp or English 29 can be used (as 1 of the 2 allowed humanities APs) and counts as an ALP (or at least it did for my entering year)

ok. thank you.

if you are thinking of medical school, could ap credits still be used to satisfy the year long english requirement?

I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it
