<p>Other people have asked about different departments, so I figured I'd see what I could find out. I'm going to major in some sort of Engineering, but because of the wealth of opportunities the undergrad school offers me (one of the main reasons I chose UVA for engineering, b/c I knew the humanities I took there would be SO much better than any technical schools), I want to minor in something that has nothing at all to do with science or math. Two topics that always interest me are history and english. There's already a thread that's talked about the quality and workload of the history department (I actually didn't get a good view, seemed to be mixed reviews), but I was wondering if anyone could enlighten me about the English department at UVA. How are the professors, what's the average workload for a class like, will I be stuck in big lectures or will there be smaller classes for discussion?</p>
