English Literature vs. English Language

My AP english class is supposed to prepare us for both the English Literature and English Language AP exams. I was looking at the AP policies for the colleges that I applied to and saw that the same credit is awarded for either test. We can choose which test we take. What are the pros and cons of each?

Lit- write analytical essays Lang-write different styles of essays (persuassuve, expository, etc)

At least this is my knowledge of them and thats why I'm taking the lit

Sohni is right,

Language involves the usage of English for rhetorical effect, whereas Lit. focuses more on analysis

We've been taking practice tests in AP Lit and I've been doing pretty horrible.

I prefer the Lang exam if you ask me.

I'm taking the Language exam in May and I've heard it wasn't that hard But literature is really quite difficult. Language is just analyzing the way the author writes and what he/she is talking about.

Language focuses on rhetoric and various types of essays, such as persuasive, etc. Vocabulary and grammar is also stressed. Nonfiction is often read in the class as well.

Literature is more analytical and deals with poetry and fiction. It honestly seems to be the harder of the two classes.
