<p>I'm considering pursuing a double major in theater and English at Occidental, and I wanted to see if anyone could tell me more about these programs? I live out of state, so I haven't been able to visit the college.</p>

Oxy offers both English Writing and English and Comparative Literary Studies as majors as well as Theater. </p>
<p>The ECLS department website states that they, “strive to present literature in a rich historical context of human social, political, and psychological behavior.” Students in this major do a lot of critical reading and analysis of texts not only from the US, but from Britain, Greece, and Rome.</p>
<p>The English department emphasizes the fact that not all students write the same, so not all students will study the same and that they present diverse approaches to writing and reading. </p>
<p>The Theater department at Oxy also provides different pathways to completing your major. You can pursue performance, production, or tech while studying at Oxy. Students are also given the opportunity to audition for multiple theater performances on campus and in the surrounding area.</p>
