Hey guys, I’m looking for some information. I recently got accepted to UT Austin under my first major, but am still waiting to hear back from one more school to make my decision of where I go next year. I’m afraid that I won’t hear back till late March, and I don’t want to miss out on the good dorms at UT if I end up going there. My question is, since I need to accept admission and pay the desposit before getting a housing contract, is that sutf binding? Like if I pay that deposit, am I forced to be at UT regardless of what the other school says? Thanks for any help you can give.
Have you already applied for housing? Housing assignments are based upon date of original housing application. It’s $50 nonrefundable to hold your place in line. If you might attend UT and live on campus, and haven’t yet applied for housing, do it ASAP.
Once you’ve been accepted to UT and accept your admission (pay the deposit) you’re eligible for a housing contract. When you accept it, you’ll make an advance payment (another deposit) to your housing bill. At this point, your advance payment may or may not be refundable, based on when you cancel and what the reason is.
