Enrollment Confirmation

When I went to confirm my enrollment online, apparently I have to pay $400!
Can anyone tell me WHY they're asking for this amount of money and exactly where this money is going?
I had to pay the application fee, fine, no problem...
but to pay JUST to be accepted?! what is this??
If it's going toward my payment for tuition then great! If not we have a problem....

every college asks for money for confirmation, it is a down payment that holds your spot for housing open

o ok thanks...
i thought it was some type of fee for something else other than my room and board or tuition....

It is credited toward your tuition & room/board.

Does anyone know if the $400 enrollment deposit is refundable if you decide to attend another school? Also, can you request housing before accepting enrollment? There is no housing deposit.

where did you guys receive your notification of the $400 confirmation fee? was it emailed? I havent been asked for any money - I am wondering if I have done something wrong.

I dont want anything to screw up my enrollment for fall.

Thanks

If you recieved the email online from umd they should've given you a link where you had to confirm your enrollment
The appalling payment should be there when you're confirming your enrollment (>.<)

Thanks for the reply.

I did confirm my enrollment - and have received my University ID and UMD email address.

I was expecting some type of deposit in the confirmation process (I had a credit card ready), but was never asked for one.

Perhaps I should phone admissions on Monday.
