Entering Freshmen With A Lot Of Credits

If I enter Umich in the fall I'll have ~35-40 credits in APs and Dual Enrollment classes. I'm hoping to study business at Ross (still waiting on pre-admit decision), but I'm only allowed to start sophomore year.

Since the number of transfer credits would technically make me a sophomore, would I be able to start working towards my BBA? If not, what could I do instead?

Entering with 40 credits is not uncommon and no, you cannot start taking Ross classes freshman year (except for ACC 271, but I heard they were changing something with it so I’m not sure if you can still do that). Your freshman year take Econ 101 and 102 and English 125, and whatever else you want. Unless the bulk of those 40 credits are dual enrollment you will still need to fulfill distribution credits so take some of those. If you think you may want to dual major start classes in that major.

I have credit for 101 and 102 from dual enrollment, so I suppose I could take classes towards a second major. I didn’t mean to make it sound like this was a special case - I knew people last year who entered U of M with even more credit. They weren’t in Ross, however, so that’s why I was asking this question. Thanks for the help.

It was my impression that you had to take Econ at Michigan but I could be wrong about that.

^ that’s correct. only calc 1 can be waived with AP credit for ross applications.

He has credit for 101 and 102 though. So if he takes them at Michigan he get’s no credit?

Vlad - I heard the same thing with regards to AP Econ, but I’m still unsure about Dual Enrollment. I’m gonna be ****ed if they don’t transfer, considering I took both classes at a comparable university.

You can check the transfer guide to see if they transfer.

If it’s anything like the school of music, those d/e classes will transfer as electives, not fulfilling program requirements per se.
