Entering Goizueta in Sophomore Yr

I'm pursuing pre-business, and I'm thinking of attending Goizueta in sophomore year. I heard it is possible if I get enough credit. Is anyone else doing or thinking of doing this?

I have also thought about doing this. I have high enough AP scores to pass out of Macro, Micro, Government, Statistics, Calculus AB, and US History. I have heard it is quite hard to get into goizueta for sophomore year though so I am not sure if I have enough credits. If anyone with any knowledge of the subject could interject that would be great

thank you!

my roommate tried it, but in the end it was impossible simply because of the number of credits required. He came in with 32 AP hours (the max that Emory accepts for AP credit), and took the maximum possible credit hours first and second semester, but unfortunately he still needed more credit hours. I am not pre-buss, so I don’t know too much about this, but you can talk with your faculty adviser during the first week of school before you pick classes to see if this is possible or not.

I got in a semester early (spring semester of sophomore year), and I know a couple of students who got in a year early.
You have to be pretty much done with all the pre-requisite courses and around 64 credit hours (around) by the time you enter (not apply) the business school.
It’s not hard to get in early, but I highly suggest you get at least B+ in pre-req classes (especially decision science (statistics) and financial accounting. grade in econ doesn’t matter as much), and so

You would need to get a solid grade in financial accounting and at least 3.5 college gpa to get in. Good luck.

Oh and regarding the number of credit hours, it states in the application, but it’s not as high if you are applying to get in a year early. Having 6 or 7 classes worth of AP credits and taking full load of classes for a year sufficed for my friends so I am guessing around (upper 50s worth of credit hours)
It’s a good idea to talk with Libby Egnor often since she’s the BBA admission officer and knows a great deal about applying

i am entering my sophomore year at emory, and could have overloaded to apply to the bschool a year early (i came in with 24 transfer hours and took four 4-credit courses each semester plus pace and pe 101), however, i spoke to Libby Egnor who said that there was no real reason for entering a year early. The only edge you get is in selecting classes, and because business courses have about 60 people in each section sometimes, theres really no shortage of spots. because of this, i decided to wait and felt much less of a strain on my freshmen year. its a good idea to get gers out of the way before applying so that once you enter the bschool you can focus on a lot of business courses. with that said, its up to you, but i saw no advantage in killing myself one semester just to apply a year early and get not much out of that.

skatz57// Good point on the classes registration. Another thing to note is that Goizueta has bidding class registration (which is between junior and sophomore year), and so you get no advantage from your individual class standing (through credit hours).
Also, you can take up to two business classes as a non-business student anyways and so it’s a good idea to take GER classes and get the ones that are taken quite fast (like astronomy with lab) before you get into the business school (well, you can always ask a friend to save a spot for you and swap classes, but that’s a totally different matter).

Thanks everyone!
