hey guys! i just joined college confidential and i actually stayed up until 5am last night reading all the threads (yes, i am really nervous about this whole college process haha) i applied ED to wash u

anyways, i was just wondering-- are the envelopes they send you for ED big or small, anyone know? ALSO, anyone know if they MAIL your scores on the 15th or if you RECEIVE them then? (and can you get them online?)

also, if you go to the school and are willing to talk to me about it/answer some personal questions, please leave your AIM screen name here.

welcome to CC! I was a long time lurker for a while out there...as far as I know, once you apply to a college, a thick envelope means a definate acceptance while a thin envelope often goes either way...can be a reject, accepted, or even a deferred; sorry i didn't actually answer your quesiton, but i felt like you deserved a reply...; what scores are you talking about on the 15th? If you're referring to either the October ACT or November SAT, they're both available online now for free.

thanks anonymous99! are you applying anywhere early (or are you already in college?)?

december 15th is the date wash u mails their decision for all who applied ED I... so i wanted to find out if that's the date they actually put it into the mail, the date you're expected to get it in the mail, or the date they post it online. i really hope it's not the date they mail it, because i'm going on vacation the morning of the 17th and i realllly would like to know before then, you know? ahhh college is so stressful!

haha...yes, i can completely agree with the stress! I'm a senior who's also applying to colleges right now...as of right now, I'm applying to 8 places and 5 of which are reaches! WUSTL is definately one of my tops...I wanna be a doctor, and their medical program is basically second to none! My assumption is that they'd mail the leters out the 15th; they want to be fair about their mailing strategy, and they understand that it'll probably take longer to send a letter to Alaska or Hawaii than to a city in Missouri; (I guess that makes it sorta unfair that they mail out all the letters together!) Anyway, it'd probably take them forever to sort the letters (from my understanding, they have stacks of rejects, defers, and accepteds) out by state and to figure out which letters to mail which days. Essentially, it's just easier for them to send them all off on one day. I also think they'll post them on the same day online (if they do that...). Also, some places e-mail you and let you know if you've gotten in or not too....don't know about WUSTL, though. Just hope for a computer with you on vacation, and you'll probably be able to check your status online. Then again, I'd hate to see a defer or a rejection on vacation. I would probably just wait until I get home and then I'd know for sure the day I get home if I'm in or not. Enjoy your vacation while you can! And remember, anticipation is far greater than participation (unless you get in!!!)

im pretty sure they release the decisions online like a day before the 15th. I know last year they were online 12/14. I applied ED I also to WUSTL. What are your stats????

i applied ED too and the guidance office at my school told me most schools on the day they mail the letters set up a link where you can find out accepted or rejected on their website or through an email.

I called the admissions office and they said that decisions were only mailed.
That you couldnt check online =( so its gonna be sometime after the 15th for answers.

thanks for replying guys! i hope we all get in!

jtslick, if you im me i'd be happy to share my scores... but i feel weird posting them for the whole internet to see, know what i mean?

nefty, thanks for calling and checking... how frustrating! i'm going to be in france wondering my whole vacation "did i get in? or didn't i?" (knowing me i'll probably wind up calling my mom and making her open the envelope for me... sad) though we need to find out 100% for sure b/c if last year they posted them online, why wouldn't they this year? i'm gonna ask one of of my friends who goes there now, then i'll let you all know.

Unless they have changed their procedures, ED decisions were released online last year. My S (currently a freshman at WUSTL) checked his Application Status pretty regularly the week of the 15th and found a link to the decision on the 14th, I think. Good luck to all of you. He just went back from Thanksgiving Break and couldn't be happier with his decision to attend WUSTL.

ilovedogs - i went to washu (graduated in 2004), so feel free to ask me any questions you have - my screenname's in my profile, or you can send me a pm

thanks laurezer... i added you to my buddy list and i can't wait to talk to you about wash u! i bet you loved it, right? you graduated the same year as my sister, which is kind of funny b/c she got into wash u but she (stupidly... in my opinion!) chose tulane over wash u haha i wish she had gone

i applied to arts & sciences as well... i have no idea what i want to do for sure yet. i may want to go into business, but the cool thing is you can major in economics in the college of arts & sciences, that's what my brother's ex-girlfriend who went to wash u did.

YOU GUYS I HOPE WE ALL GET IN SO THEN WE CAN ALL BE FRESHMAN OF THE CLASS OF 2010 AT WASH U TOGETHER!!
