Erie --> University Park

I was accepted to Erie, but University Park was my first choice. And I know you are guaranteed admission to University Park after sophmore year. But does anyone try to switch to University Park after his/her freshman year? Is that also possible to switch to University Park after first semester of my freshman year?

My d got into main campus, but someone had told me that if you do not get into main campus, and go to another school (not Penn State), that its easier to reapply to main campus to begin January. Evidently when the Jan. session begins, there are openings for transfers as many kids have dropped out. But I don't know if that goes for a branch campus like Erie. Where else did you apply? I don't know anything about the Erie campus. People from our area who don't get in main campus seem to go to Altoona campus and love it.

I live in the Erie area, and in my opinion, it's pretty much the butthole of America. The weather sucks (its cold ALL THE TIME), there's not much to do (unless you're a skier), and its just one of those places that's not a whole lot of fun the majority of the year. However, the campus is nice... they have a great pool and I'm sure being PSU, the academics are ok. Granted, with University Park being in the middle of Amish Country, I don't know if the social life would be much better. But growing up here, if I do end up going the PSU route, I'd head to State College ASAP. If I were you, I'd try to get out of there as fast as you could.

Sorry, that doesn't really answer your question. Just a bit of ranting on my part...

I looked for a while, and didn't see anything that said you could transfer before the usual after sophomore year date. you might want to call the admissions office and ask them about it, because it's obviously an important factor.

university park isn't so much in amish country... that's more se of us like in lancaster. you have to go at least an hour se before you see amish farms. not that sc doesn't have plenty of farms outside of it.

No you can't transfer, they expect you to complete two years at a branch campus so when you get to UP you can focus on your major..Generally the first two years are your basic subjects with an elective.

Through a community college here I already have something like 92 credit hours in general ed. If I transfered those, or at least the majority, or enough that I could be a sophomore within a semester, then I could transfer to the University Park campus? Are there any transfers here?
