I am apply for College of Fine Arts, School of Visual Arts (CFA), ED.
In no more than 250 words, please tell us why BU is a good fit for you and what specifically has led you to apply for admission
my response:
Certainly, there are lots of art schools in US, however, the geographical advantages make BU one of the best choices for me. Producing artworks requires innovations and inspirations, and I believe I can find them both at BU. As a newcomer to this country, I have lived in Georgia for 3 years. The suburban environment gives me opportunities to interact with the nature, yet I always wonder how things are like in a northern city such as Boston : the Red Sox, lobster, coldness, the historical context, the academic and artistic atmosphere, all these precious element and cultural symbols are contained by Boston, and BU is located at the heart of this city. Ranking does matter, but ranking does not indicate how would I interact with my school. BU, with a diverse student body, will offer me the opportunity to explore distinct cultures, to communicate with different people, and to gain ideas from various events.
btw, after submitting my ED application, can I apply to a different major (such as business) in January? Because I’m going to take both Oct and Nov’s SATs, with a great chance of getting a 2000.
Definitely a bad idea posting your essay on a public and anonymous forum! PLEASE check your grammar and make sure that it is spot on, because it isn’t right now. Best of luck!
terrible idea posting your application response on here
you're writing too much about Boston as a city, as opposed to Boston University. You need to write about how Boston University is the right school for you, not about how Boston is the best city for you to go to college. Trust me- admissions reps do NOT like when applicants do this.
I’m a current sophomore at BU in Questrom. PM me if you have any more questions!
and I don’t mean to sound harsh but you really need to scrap this entire response. Everything you’ve written could apply to any college in the Boston area (BU, Northeastern, Harvard, MIT, Suffolk, Emerson, Simmons, Berklee, UMass Boston, possibly BC or Tufts- you get the point). Plus, you’re applying to one of the more “specialized” schools within BU- you need to convince BU that YOU are the perfect fit for CFA. Again, sorry if this sounds harsh at all, I just really want to help you because I can tell that you want to go to BU :0
Good Luck!
Congratulations. You probably got caught some slack “[a]s a newcomer to this country,” because the prompt response you posted did not reflect a college-level knowledge of grammar and punctuation. Your record undoubtedly had many pluses, and we are all very happy for you. Enjoy the lobster!
