When I straight copy and paste my essay into the box for it online and preview it, it looks really messed up (read: no tabs, and a line break i didn't enter in between the first and second paragraphs)

so, i figured out a way to format it that it looks nice in the print preview, but i know that technically it's formatted incorrectly in the box. does the print out for the admissions counselors look just like mine? or, will it look right and i should just stop worrying?

also, the print preview has other errors that are beyond my control. boo.

Yes, same problem happens with me. I'm pretty sure it will look like the print/preview and NOT the way it looks online. And sometimes for the print preview some letters aren't aligned right, but I guess that's out of our control.

at least it will be consistently one way or another i guess. i'm just going to make it look good in my print preview and hope that it turns out the same for them.

are you applying early?

Yep, sent in app on the 25th.

just sent mine in, too. best of luck :)

Good luck to you too =)

Don't worry about essay formatting ... it is not something us Admissions counselors care about. And in 99% of the time the formatting is there when printed out, even though it does not look like it in the print preview.

Question to AdmissionsDaniel: do you guys still need admissions volunteers as the application process has already begun? Last time I checked in september, the front desk lady told me that they don't need any volunteers at the office, and that she couldn't really find the "admissions volunteer information form" for me.

Not this semester. We will be recruiting admissions volunteers again in early February when the spring semester begins. Pay attention to the "Today at Hopkins" messages for information about introductory meetings in Feb.
