Prompt: Do changes that make our lives easier not necessarily make them better? (BB Test #2)

In American society, advancements in technology have made the top stories for years. Whether it was the release of the popular Iphone or advancements in pesticide use, technology has never failed to grab the attention of the society. However, although technology often promises to make our lives easier and better, it often fails to do so.
Over the past few decades, pesticide use has greatly increased in the United States. Although these pesticides have given us picture perfect fruit, they have also endangered the lives of thousands of animals in the farmlands they were used in. Scientific studies have also proven that pesticide use in an area brings down the species diversity. The harsh chemicals used also put the farmer in poor health, exposing him to such growth hormones such as DDT. Although the use of pesticides has appealed to the American consumer, it has had devastating effects for the animals and farmers behind the scenes.
Another modern advancement in America has been with the popular Personal Computer, known as the PC. Although founded only decades ago, computers now find themselves in the home of almost every American. Whether used for homework assignments or data entry, computers offer a superiority to the sluggish pen and paper style of writing. However, past their shiny screens and tapping keyboards, computers also bring with themselves potential health problems. Countless studies have shown that increased computer use is linked with less physical activity, as well as an increased number of heart attacks and strokes. Despite providing an added convenience to millions of Americans, computers have also added a list of health problems to American's lives, shortening the lives of millions.
Without a doubt, the use of technology has gained popularity and use over the past decades. With recent improvements, such as those with pesticides and computers, technology has made the lives of millions easier and more convenient to live. However, technology has also introduced health risks to both humans and animals, a sure sign that it is not making our lives better to live.
