Question:
Do Changes that make our lives easier not necessarily make them better?

My Essay:

Over the last half century, technological advancements have defied even our wildest imaginations. From the television to more complicated medical advancements, technology is present everywhere, sometimes even without our knowledge. However, these breakthroughs that have saved us a lot of time and also lives, have not made our lives better. As with almost anything, with positives come a bundle of negatives. This is especially true for modern day technologies, practices and methods. The growing obesity rate, lack of privacy and loss of jobs are perfect demonstrations of the negative traits of modern technology.

Medical advancement have in some way shaped the way we live, sometimes in a negative way. Although it has brought about longer life spans and more cures, it has also given birth to higher obesity rates and more diseases. People's reliance on medical technology has shot through the roof. Feeling there us always a cure, people start living an unhealthy lifestyle and going on a poor diet regiment. This, in turn, has caused some of the highest obesity rates in children ever. Moreover, there has been an introduction of multiple diseases since the beginning of the century. Our faith in the medical world has doomed us into living a carefree, dependent life. This has truly been a blessing in disguise.

Apart from medical advances, everyday technological advances such as the television and computer have brought about changes in our lives. As mentioned before, not all of these changes have impacted us positively. With the growth of the Internet and social network websites like Facebook, Myspace etc., people's identity are being held at the mercy of Internet predators. Stories of identity theft and stolen credit card thefts have become so prevalent, that it is considered a norm. Statistics show that with new and incoming technologies, these hazards have gone up rather than down.

Finally, and possibly most importantly, people are suffering economically. While it is true that efficient and fast pace of technology will benefit big companies, it will also inevitably harm smaller business and individuals. People, who used to work in factories with insufficient pay are suffering even more now. A lot of these people are unemployed because of the rapid takeover of jobs by faster and more efficient technology . While we may not be effected by this, there are millions of people that are.

It would be a fool's conclusion to state that technology has been a negative addition in our lives. It has undoubtably had some positive effects. Still,m the fact remains, that not everyone is benefiting fromt hese advancements. Unfortunately, as time goes on, technological advancements are bound to expand and more and more unhappy citizens are bound to be uncovered. While it in some ways have made our lives easier, it has certainly not made it better.

i know you said to mark it out of 6, but Collegeboard markes is out of 12 so I'd say the first reader would give you a 6 and the second a 5.

So I'd Say: 11 Score.

yea.. you either get a 5 or a 6 in my opinion. Good arguments

bbuummmppppp

the essay was solid. I wish i can pull that off in 25 minutes ^^.. I would say very close to 5 and 6 = 11, but I think it would get a 5 and 5 =10.

I don't think that can be accomplished in 25 mins without the help of a word-processing mechanism...

trust me! its definitely possible.. i did it. Like i said, i get into writing as soon as i see the topic.. none of the thinking about the topic for 5 min. Plus i did not have any time to edit but i was careful during writing but still fast. i am generally a fast writer anyway.
