agh, so i'm pretty aggravated because i just found out i was rejected (didn't even make it to the interview round) of two programs that base it's admission almost fully on essays. i have strong stats, and for one of them (an international program), i felt that i had a good chance. i've had international experience in the past with a 10k scholarship, pretty unique EC's including national/international awards, top 10 in my class, etc, and i was still rejected. i'm almost positive it was my essays that screwed me over. (i've never been a good writer).

i was just wondering if people who've been accepted into college could post their essays that helped them get into the schools they were accepted to. or give me any advice on my own essays? i'll message them, and i'd appreciate any feedback. thanks in advance (:

I can help, but not by showing you my essays; they’re still under college’s consideration xD

Anyways, I can read your essay and help improve / write it again.

haha, thanks (: i’ll PM one of them to you. i’m not looking for anyone’s essays that actually need them or have the risk of being stolen =X but if anyone has already gotten accepted into college and doesn’t need them anymore, that’d be cool if i could use them as an example.

search some. i’ve seen something like “50 harvard essays”. they’re out of date a little but still you can use them as an example.

you should know that succesful essays are:
- written in good english and interesting - for most of colleges/programs
- unique - for top colleges/programs

unique mean showing your uniquity. be aware of pompous/popular slogans/ideas, take a clean look at world with critical attitude, not through ideological glasses. Should be fine.

Good essays are

-very personal
-can convey a message completely
-written in good english
-not generalized
-specific

My friend wrote an essay about the awesomeness of the invention of the modern pen and got into Cal and UC Davis

hmm, okay. i think it’s more my style … it’s hard for me to put some ideas into words and make it the way i want it to sound. a;slkdjfasldkfj i don’t know. thanks for the advice though

omgoodness, thank you. those were amazing examples
