Essay Help for University of California SD and LA!!!

Hello everyone! This is my first post here. I just finished my first draft for the UC prompt #1:

Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

I am getting extremely nervous after reading a few essays on the net. I don't my topic is as good as theirs. I am passionate about cars and can do an essay on that too, but I'm confused. I would be much obliged if you could view my linkedin profile ( type 'Anam Afroz ⤚⤚⤚' in the search field ) and help me choose a better topic. But if you don't have that much time, please read on and tell me if I should take this essay further if I'm headed in the right direction, or how I could improve it. I will improve the language later - this is what naturally came into my mind. Now allow me to take your time. Here's my essay:

The rooms in my apartment are positioned a bit like school classrooms, where a corridor is the central feature. If you wander along it and enter the 2nd room on the right, you will but struggle to find a part of it that would not betray a penchant for cars within the heart of its occupant. And somewhere in that room, you will find my name.

Cars and I go back a long way. I have been fascinated by cars right from my dawn. When I was a child I used to play with them just like any boy. I wondered how these gorgeous machines glided on tarmac. Born in a mechanical era to a keen engineer, I was familiar with screw drivers and other tools since my childhood. Using them, I dismantled all the toy cars that came in my way, to inspect what constituted them and what really made them run at different speeds. But as I grew older, I began to view them from a different perspective. Whenever I watched a superhero movie, I saw them using their gadgets and transports to save lives of others and I related myself to them, especially the Batman. I saw myself driving a special car just like his, knowing that it is more capable, knowing that it will help people in unimaginable ways and knowing that since I could do those things, I had an obligation to do them.

I cannot bear it when I see people longing for help and friendship, while others continue to ignore them and laugh. Its sad, but true; its happening everywhere. Its happening within my school. There are many who are left unnoticed and among them are the ones that are not very mentally sound. A small number of us are helping some of them feel better about their lives. I sat beside one of them for the whole year of school after discovering he had never had a class partner, and played sports with another, helping him brighten up and improve academically. I also organized a mini surprise birthday party for the former which no student had done for him; and I plan to do more.

My love for cars persists, stronger than ever. I learned about gears and motors from my toy cars and that triggered an interest in all the machines around me. I disassembled the parts of the ones that I was allowed to handle and every time I did, it left me amazed. Whenever I came to my Grandparents' residence for vacations, I got to lay my hands on more complex machines, but the selected ones that didn't work, including the computer and the generator. In my hometown technicians are not easily available, so every time I fixed one of the appliances or pinpointed the fault correctly, I was rewarded. This inspired me to learn from the technicians when they came and repair the machines next time they malfunctioned by myself and from that stemmed another interest in things that are faulty and do not work as expected - I began to enjoy understanding their aberrant behaviors.

I wish to learn more about technology and machines. I have long since dreamed of a flying supercar that would drive through places where helicopters and planes cannot fly, and fly through places where cars couldn't go. I have seen concepts of such means of transports but I long to make something entirely radical, something that no one has ever thought of creating, with astounding capabilities. I can see many around me who are homeless, many whose throats are parched and many who have got none to protect them. Of course I cannot be a superhero, but I am going to help as many as I can with all my energy, and inspire other to do the same.

I am blessed to be leading a peaceful and beautiful life, and I wish to make the lives of many others colorful too.
