Essay Help

Hi everyone, I was just wondering if any of you had any ideas on how to boost my essay score just a tad. I usually get an 8 and would like to get at least a 9 on my essay this Saturday. Here are 2 essay I've recently written.

Essay 1;
Topic; Do changes that make our lives easier not necessarily make them better?

From simply moving to another town to winning the lottery, the lives of people are constantly changing. While some of these changes can make one's life easier, these changes to one's life do not necessarily make them better. This can be demonstrated in the Great Depression, Beowulf, and in the presidency of Harry S. Truman.

As shown in the Great Depression, easier days do not enhance lives. With the unemployment rate unbelievably high, people were becoming quiescent at home and could not salvage the money needed to feed their families. This was a very tragic time in the United States and people were gradually losing the remains of their flamboyance. It got to the point where regular people began committing suicide to end their misery. While this change in lifestyle definitely made people's lives easier, it proved to only be detrimental.

Demonstrated by the courageous warrior Beowulf, changes that reduce tension only lead to one's downfall. After the death of Grendel's mother, Beowulf was crowned king and given all the luxuries a man could covet. As a period of fifty years passed, a fierce dragon began terrorizing the lands. Beowulf, drained of all his strength from age, was once again called onto the battlefield. A true noble warrior, Beowulf marched into a battle aware of his low chances of coming back safely. Therefore, changes to one's life that make it easier only cause harm. The 50 years of inactivity ruined Beowulf and curtailed his legacy.

During the Cold War, Harry S. Truman proved to be a very valuable asset to America. Truman was able to keep communism where it was with his policy of containment and got European countries back on their feet. Moreover, Truman initiated America's path towards leading the world. While this was a wonderful contribution from Truman, a plethora of problems was thrown on American's plate. On top of dealing with issues on the homefront, America had to manage abroad as well.

Just as daytime and nighttime, people's lives are frequently changing. These changes may make people's lives easier, but will not improve them. As shown in the Great Depression, Beowulf, and the presidency of Truman, an easier life does not make it better.

Essay 2
Topic; Should people make more of an effort to keep some things private?

Privacy allows people to have a sense of assurance and pride for themselves. To keep this mutual feeling shared between people globally, privacy is a top priority and everyone should make more of an effort to keep it that way. In Macbeth, Frankenstein, and the Zimmerman Note people made more of an effort to keep certain things private.

In Macbeth, once Macbeth rose to power, he could not let word of his misdemeanors break loose. Macbeth eliminated anyone who gave him the slightest doubts, even his friend Banquo. By vanquishing his enemies, Macbeth was able to maintain his title of King and satisfied his ambition longing for power.

A scientist with good intentions ends up creating a monstrosity in Frankenstein. He had no idea this would be the result of his strenuous work and was demoralized to continue his work. To make matters worse, the monster tormented the scientist's loved ones and would only compromise if the scientist would make him a companion. Completely scared from his first creation, the scientist just could not do it. The scientist should have made more of an effort to keep his research clandestine.

The Zimmerman Note was one of the major sparks that pushed America into entering WW1. If the proposed alliance between Mexico and Germany was not intercepted, there could have been a delay in direct American intervention during WW1. Germany should have took more caution with the letter if they really expected progress.

Privacy allows people to conceal secrets and feel secure. In Macbeth's path to king, the scientist's research, and the sending of the Zimmerman Note, privacy was the main key. When the privacy was opened to the public, everything was sabotaged. People need to make more of an effort to keep things private.
