I have never posted before on these boards but I had this question,

I went online this morning to check my June SAT scores and saw that i recieved a 0 for the essay. This obviously dragged down my writing score alot, and next to the essay score it said its scored from 2-12.

So i clicked around on the website and read that you can only get a zero if its illegible or if you dont answer the question. My handwriting is pretty good so it can't be that, and i deffinitely answered the question. I even went to the part of collegeboard where you can see old test questions just so i could read the promt again because i remember basically what i wrote and i remember taking a side clearly, listing literary and life examples and all that.

So my question is... what do i do now? Is there anything i can to do appeal this essay score of 0, other than this the rest of the test i improved from last time. I didn't do amazing last time on the essay but i got an 8, which i would gladly take over a 0. Please help...

I am pretty sure that i used pencil, but if by chance I did use pen because the proctor said it was allowed and I was unfamiliar with the correct rules am I basically screwed?

Sorry I don't know an online link (though must be there).
According to CB Registration booklet,
you could just call 609-771-7600 (Customer Svc).
They list $30 for "Hand-Scoring Service".

i don't think they re-read your essay with handscoring, but when I went online to get my scores, it said essay scores wouldn't be out until the 25th of june. maybe a 0 is a different way of saying your scores aren't in yet.

If "0" isn't due to unavail WR subscores,
then rescoring can help.

There was a post on CC - someone wrote essay in pen, and called CB and they said they would read/score the essay again.
Search the Forum to find the thread (seem to recall it was May SAT I testing time frame?)

thanks for your help everyone. I had written the essay in pen and not even realized it because the proctor said it was ok, stupid on my part for not finding out myself and knowing the rules but i called collegeboard and the lady said that this happened to about 10 percent of the students that took the test, but she said that they are going to rescore the essay for free
