<p>the other day i took a practice SAT and i guess i never thought about this before, but is the score of the essay calculated into the writing section score given? or is the essay just a separate number from 1-12?</p>
<p>you are given a essay subscore of 1-12, but using a conversion factor never really disclosed by college board, they take your multiple-choice raw score and that essay subscore and give you your writing section score</p>
<p>essay is roughly 30% of writing score out of 800, while MCQs are roughly 70%of score out of 800.</p>

<p>How many multiple choice questions are there? College Board gives the raw score (number correct), but doesn't say out of how many total.</p>
<p>I think it's 80</p>
<p>It's 49, but scaled to 80 points.</p>
