Essay Style Help

So I am writing a last minute redo of a 'why college X essay' and I would like some input on the style I am using.
Should one get directly to the point (as in I like college X because of A B and C) or is it fine to take a more indirect route (like starting with a short anecdote about how you became interested in the college)

The length of the essay is about 2 paragraphs (I'm guessing based on the character count) and I'm not sure if the indirect route I am using is too distracting.

Thanks!

I remember seeing a reply to a similar post which was very short, to the point, and just perfect in all ways. This is the format you should follow:

Here’s me

Here’s you

Here’s you+me = <3

Show them how you are, using anecdotes, instead of plainly telling them how you are.

Oh that’s the best advice I think I’ve ever gotten.
