essay topic about attempting and failing to make students council for 3/5 years of HS

Okay, s I don't know if this is a good topic, or where exactly I'm going with it... it just sort of came to me

I guess it fits under 'personal experience'

PS this is just a potential topic, by no means the introduction to my essay!!! (I'm pretty much going to begin free-writing)

as a student in a public high-school in canada unusually filled with over-achieving keeners, being an over-achieveing keener myself, I felt from the first day of high school that it was my duty to become a member of the executive students council. At first, it was merely a competitive dream, a way to show others that I could beat these over-achievers at something. However, it eventually became a passion of mine, after I got involved in various other leadership positions. The thing is, I ran for students council for three of my 5 years of high school! Although I improved each time in the number of votes, I never won.
It was until I lost this year, my junior year, when I realized that indeed, I had won... I had gained a blah blah you get the point, I realized that the eexperience itself was more important...

honestly is this a really bad idea? haha I'm just going on an impulsive lightbulb thought

ugh I hate council, it’s a popularity contest at my school…

as for the topic I think it’s unique and good although others might say it is bad since it highlights that you didn’t win.

as long as you’re not too cliche about it. you have to realize that a LOT of students will be writing about the “fail and redeem yourself; realizing that the experience was more important” essays and they all will follow the same format “Experience A led to Redeeming Trait X, Proud Factor Y, and Realization Z”

And as for councils … hehe, my school recently has gone on a “anti-popularity” election mindset, so a lot of unpopular people have gotten themselves high up on the ladders of the school. i love the fact that this is happening. i loathe popularity contests.

hahah thanks but that was spur of the moment thing at like 2AM haha
but yeah i know the popularity contest thing, don’t even get me started…

well at least my popularity increased over the years LOL

thanks for all the input! i think i can come up with a better topic

this would have been good if i won on the 3rd try
