Essay Topics

I have a two essay topics but do not know which one would be the best to convey myself. One is kind of creative and would fall under topic of your choice while the other is about an extracurricular and is more personal.

I have only had one thing throughout my whole high school career: my orange hat. You have to understand that I am really attached to this hat and it has sort of become part of me. I would write about how over the years everything has changed except this one hat. It was there fore my first day of band camp, first real date, first tennis match…etc. It also has become pretty famous among my friends since I wear it so much. They constantly try to take it from me…

I finally found something I loved. I never played any sports before high school and it always made me uncomfortable when people would ask me about them because being a boy it seemed like it was necessary. In tenth grade I tried out for tennis after playing it religiously the previous summer. All my friends, some of whom were on the tennis team, told me I would definitely make the team. The coach was going to make cuts twice. I was cut the first time and was completely devastated. However, I decided to show up on the last day of try outs and ended up making them team.

I believe the first one is more quirky and memorable while the second one seems kind of typical, although I did show up the last day on my own accord. Any thoughts?

Orange hat. Though you'll have to pull together some sort of message. The other is too common and mundane.

Happy writing!

Definitely the first one. It's much more memorable and unique. A million other people will write a version of the second one.
