i am obssessed with the word limits!!! I am paranoid about them!
i just read the Yale FAQ and it scared me so much!!!!!!!!!!

Those of you who were accepted early action, how long were your common app essays??????? This year, the common application did not give a word limit, but the Yale FAQ says keep the word limit for both essays and i am getting so worried worried worried.

SAVE ME FROM THIS PARANOIA!!! :)

oh and by the way, congratulations all of you who got in!!! and all those deferred don't lose hope!!!!!!!!! you guys are all amazing people!!! all those who are applying for regular are awesome too!!! YAY!!! we all rock!!! (I am sorry, it's nighttime here, and i have to get some sleep, forget about my college essays for a few hours, but i am not, and i feel so happy, but i don't know why.. anyway we are all great!!!! good luck to everyone! and please answer my question!)

Hey,
I got in and I think I went overboard... I think quality matter more than quality and as long as you stay roughly (no more than 50 words above) in the limit, I think you are fine!

I stayed within the 500 word limit for the supplement essay , but i didnt even know there was a word limit for common app and mine was about 750 words. and they did seem to mind :)

Don't worry about it. I got in and my Personal Statement was more or less 300 words above the prescribed word count..however, I do think that I had something substantial to say, so don't go too much overboard unless you know that what you are adding is not frugal

My common app was like 1200 I think....maybe this is why I didn't get in. But really, CA has no word limit, so I think it's bull that Yale would enforce a limit. Eh. Maybe it just sucks for me.

if I had to pinpoint a reason, i'd say the length...definitely the length....the length itself would make your profile a direct rejection...it looks as if you are not following what Yale said...by FAR...

I wrote two essay with about 650 words, and I got in. I don't think they are going to count or anything- they're just trying to make sure some really desperate people don't wrote a huge essay full of minute drivel. Keep it reasonable, and focus on concise quality.
