There is no doubt these factors matter a lot for all students but I do not think they have same weight on applications. Which one do you guys think is the most important and least important one? If you could explain why, that would be awesome.
Depends really on what year the transfer is currently in.
I’d say for rising sophomore transfer students it’s College GPA > HS GPA > Test Scores > EC’s > Essays.
For rising junior transfer students it’s College GPA > EC’s > Essays > HS GPA > Test Scores. In some cases, I wouldn’t even include test scores in the equation due to a lot of schools not requiring them at that point.
Keep in mind that my measure of application elements can totally be disputed and reordered. Every institution is different. Also, just because ___ part of your application is near the back of my list, doesn’t mean it’s unimportant. I would NEVER recommend a student to “slack off” on their essays simply because it’s considered the “least important” portion of their application–most schools have adopted a holistic model of admission, so all submitted portions of your application are reviewed and considered.
