ESSAYS: Will you read mine? + chances...

Hi all...
I'm new to college confidential and looking for someone to give me some feedback on my essays. I would, of course, be happy to return the favor. Let me know if you're up to the task!

Also...What do you guys think about my chances for UCB, Stanford, Harvard, and Northwestern? Here are my stats:

High School: competitive private school, took heavy courseload
High School GPA: 4.2 or something, weighted
SAT: 1470 (the old one)
SAT IIs: Writing: 800 (that would make my score on the new SAT 2270), English 760, Math IC 730

Current School: Vassar College
College GPA: 3.93...with a good course load and some variety
Major: English/Comp Lit
Teacher Recs: will be very good, are from 2 profs I worked closely with
ECs: Trez of a club @ Vassar, editor of a philosophy magazine at vassar, logic grader at Vassar, lots of ECs from high school, various community service things, and I'm currently on a year off from Vassar (though I can go back if I want) and taking an EMT course, an art course, and doing 2 editorial internships with reputable publications/literary agencies

also i live in CA...I think that helps for UCB?

What do you think???????

Thanks so much for reading!

Oh yeah, and I am applying as a junior

you took the sat ii in writing in your sophomore year and scored an 800? thats pretty awesome. you will probably be admitted to berkeley. northwestern is a good shot as well. harvard and stanford will come to some awesome recommendations and excellent essays, which i can read if you'd like. pm me. i usually do a good job.

You have excellent chances, but most of your schools have low transfer acceptance rates (IDK re UCB, except that - yes- being a Cali resident will help). Make sure you present good reasons for transfer, showing in-depth knowledge of each school. So I hope Vassar is an acceptable safety for you - otherwise, add one or two.

Best of luck.

Being a california resident will surely help, but keep in mind that due to the fact that you are at another university, you will not be given priority, since community college students get the first priority; then cal state students; and then private universities. Also, i dont know if your residency has been taken away do to the fact that you are currently residing in a different state. I think it will ask that in the application.

May I take a look at your essay?
