ethnomusicology

Do you know how many students (ballpark) are usually in the following classes?
Ethno 10 A/B/C
Ethno 11 A/B/C ???????
thanks

Ethno 10 series is now known as M7A and last year, there were about 90 students. It comprises of (mostly first year) Ethnomusicology, Music History, and Music majors.

Ethno 11 series has around 25 students.

are you a jazz major?
Have you taken the ethno intro classes I listed?
Do you know how hard it is to get into musical groups if you are an ethno major (not jazz) but have a lot of experience on your instrument but are not conservatory level?
Like the orchestra and chamber groups?

I’m actually a world music major and I’ve only taken the M7A classes so far.

I’ve never played in those groups but I know it’s pretty difficult getting into the symphony orchestras (major and non-major). You don’t have to be conservatory level to get in because I know some non-majors who play in it and ethno majors who’ve been rejected. It depends on instrument though…strings and winds are more competitive. Most ethno majors are usually preoccupied with their ethno ensemble requirements so I don’t know many who even try out for orchestras or chamber groups.
