Evaluation

what should i be expecting most from my liason officer evaluation? thanks

He'll just be wanting to get to know you better and know a few different things such as why you want to attend, etc. He'll also review your resume if you have one and talk to you about the stuff on it. Not that big of a deal, but you should make a good impression.

I just did my interview about two weeks ago.

By any chance, did you go to summer seminar session A?

hey, Tow Truck, i had my ALO interview like 3 weeks ago. I was wondering if your ALO had submitted his evaluation for the AFA admissions website yet? Mine still says it needs to be submitted, but i already had it so i am a little confused, i dont know how long it should take. What element of Summer Sem A where you in?

I had mine a little over a month ago, and the website just recently reflected it. I live in Georgia, so I do not know if it took a long time in the mail, processing, etc. I'd give it a few more weeks, then call your admissions counselor.

yea, i asked my admissions councelor and she said that it was between the ALO's and the directors of when they had to be in by, thats why i was a little confused. What summer sem did you go to, A or B? which element?

Yeah, mine hasn't showed up yet. Still waiting. Waiting. Waiting.

Seminar A...B7 I believe. Oh, how quickly I forget. Haha.

oh nice, i was c-10

Some people don't realize that the ALO interview is a lot more than just a get-acquainted session. The ALO's are given a set of questions that they are required to ask and a range of possible responses. When it's all over they actually compute a score for your interview and send it in. That doesn't mean they can't make subjective evaluations, but the score is what goes into your application ranking. ALO's are fond of saying, "I can't get you into the academy, but I can keep you out of it." As always, preparation pays off!

Very true. My ALO gave me the set of questions ahead of time so that I could prepare for the interview and be ready when he asked them. It was very helpful to have those and be prepared as to what I was going to say.

hey, anyone here go to session B of summer seminar? my element was B1...

I had two alo interviews (tried to get in twice) and each was over 3 hours long since we would get off topic and talk about anything BUT the interview. My alo was a great guy. He did hint at the idea that "i cant get you in but i can keep you out" although he knew how badly i wanted in he actually went a good distance to help me. Im sure if my medical stuff cleared i could of gotten it with all the help he gave me.

We always joked about the two questions "Talk about a situation where you tried hard and succeeded" then "talk about a situation where you tried hard."

Also, be prepared for the question he always asked first "Why do you want to go to the academy." Although if that question catches you off gaurd...

Also remember good interview techniques cause "confidence" is actually a score on the test. If you ALO is also okay with it, he might even give you your score later on down the road but im sure that depends on alot of things.

Best of luick!
