Yah Deerfield seems amazing. I applied to 8 schools, but not Deerfield. The 2 schools I wish I applied to are Deerfield and Lawrenceville.

I haven't heard much about Lawrenceville... what's it like?
I think I might check it out if I have to reapply next year...

Deerfield does seem great... and from a previous thread about dorms I heard that Deerfield's were the best...

just read through this whole thread (wow there's alot of stuff)

I think I prefer Andover way more to Exeter now xD
(no offense to all those Exeter lovers out there)
fingers crossed!
hope I get in!!!

I'm still leaning towards Exeter, not that I applied to Andover. Whoever said that Exeter's library was a waste of space...SHAME ON YOU. That's one of my favorite parts!

On the topic of same-sex education...I think that is a good point that many applicants prefer to go coed. I know that I never want to go to a same-sex school, whether it be a boarding school, or even a college. Not that there is anything actually wrong the the concept, but simply that I love boys waaayyy to much. Ask anyone who knows me: I spent 85% of my time scoping the opposite sex. Haha.

Exeter's library is ugly. Huge but ugly. It won all these architectural awards, but it looks pretty crappy. If Exeter was willing to spend millions on a libraray, they should have made something like SPS's library...

Isn't the content of the library more important than its architecture?

The library should be judged by the content of its character, and not the colour of its walls.

bahaha yay westcoast!

...They could at least make it look nice?

YAY WESTCOAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I applied to

SPS
Exeter
Groton
Middlesex

(in order of visitation, and nothing more)

SPS
EXETER
GROTON
MIDDLESEX
ANDOVER
HOTCHKISS
BROOKS
GOVERNOR'S

here

bringing the subject back to libraries...

SPS's library was WAY better than exeter's!!!!
it's SO AMAZING!

Lol I agree...I means exeters is huge and all but who needs all those books anyway. SPS library is beautiful..

yea it is...
when I went to SPS for a visit, my interviewer took me and my mom to the library, where I just sat on one of the couches facing the window and read.... it was such an amazing feeling!!!

(and my mom was walking all around the library taking photos...)

Ya'll are crazy if you're serious.

When I visited SPS it was in a snow storm so the view from the library was magical.

well starcrossed what do you think?

i mean, Exeter's library's huge with lots of books, but there are alot of books in the SPS library too.. and Exeter's library just feels cold and unfriendly...

what do you guys think of Andover's library? I didn't get to see much of it...

Andover's library is big enough and very quiet, the perfect place to study.

I just think that it is the quality and quantity of the library that is more important than its homey quality. That is not to say that a nice library atmosphere is undesireable, but a library isn't supposed to be the...epitome of architecture at a school. Function over form, I suppose.

My "are ya'll serious" was more directed towards whoever said "who needs all those books anyway?" and less towards the people who simply preferred the other libraries because of their atmospheres. That's perfectly okay. But to be like "who needs a bunch of books anyway?" is ridiculous. What do you think a library is for? A bunch of DVDs? Libraries have been around as long as written language. They pass down information and stories from generation to generation, from Aristotle all the way down to us! Books are beautiful things.

I'm o so sorry. I mean thousands of books just isn't enough for me...I NEED Exeters 160k. Because it's not like libraries loan books or anything. I mean there's no way I'll find what I need in any other library other than Exeters....just no way. I mean the quality of that thing. Goodness.

I mean there's just no way I'll find a book about Aristotle in SPS library. :D
