Well, this isn't exactly college related, but high school/ secondary school related. I was just wondering 1) the possibilities for a girl to make it into phillips exeter for 9th grade with straight a's, honor classes, 2 instruments, and a number of sports, and 2) When a school says that it has a 19% acceptance rate, does this number include the people who are coming back to exeter for another year, or people who didn't go to exeter yet, and just applied.

Thanks!

Wrong forum.

There is a specific forum for prep school chances. Please refer to the link here: [Prep School Chances - College Confidential](Prep School Chances - College Confidential Forums)

Also, prep school admissions parallel the ivies. You usually need some sort of a “hook” to get in. You need some distinguishing characteristic.

Take for example one of my best friends Gregory M (not his actual name). He had a 2260 SAT, straight A’s, played the saxophone (got into county and regions to boot). He got 99% on his SSAT exams. He did not play a sport.

However, with all of his near-perfect stats (music accolades, SAT, SSAT, grades), he was waitlisted/rejected to andover, exeter and a number of very prestigious prep schools.
