Experience with NAPS

Does anyone know about what time you should receive your NAPS info?

Generally the information that you will need to complete prior to reporting will be made available in late spring.

If you have any questions about NAPS do not afraid to ask.

Do you know approximately how many are admitted to NAPS (the individuals who are trying to get into USNA, not USMMA or USCGA) each year? Also, on the acceptance sheet it states that you should send in the acceptance/declination certificate within one week of receipt, then the sheet in the envelope says you can send it in before May 1st. So as long as I send it in before May 1st then I'm ok? I just recieved my appointment to NAPS a couple of days ago, and I'm playing the waiting game for both USAFA and USMA.

I would get in touch with your CGO regarding the exact deadline on the acceptance letter.

As far as how many are at NAPS, there is room for approximately 300 NAPS students to start the year. In the past couple of years, average that report on I-Day to NAPS has been between 250-270. As of this current class at NAPS, there are only USNA placements there. No USCGA candidates were sent to NAPS this year.

Congratulations on your NAPS offer. Good luck on the waiting game with the other academies.

My only bit of advice is to follow your heart. If USNA is where you ultimately see yourself, then go with NAPS even if you get direct admission offers to either USAFA or USMA. This decision was placed on my Mid a couple of years ago. Direct admit to USAFA or NAPS. She chose NAPS as her ultimate dream was to serve in the Navy and attend USNA.

navy_clarinet is right...if you want to sail the 7 seas, you will never be happy in the AF. I always become quizzical when I read about kids applying to ea branch. I get the wanting a military career and serve your country, I just don't get wanting to be on a boat, but giving 9 yrs to serve on land (USMA + committment) or vise a verse.

Attend the branch you want to serve in, b/c you will serve in it for at least 5 yrs after grad. 5 yrs along time to be miserable for the ability to say I went to an SA. Your commanding officers will also see if your heart is all in or just buying time.

Thanks for the info. I would actually prefer to take USAFA Prep over a direct appointment to USMA or USNA if that were to happen.
