explo--summer @ yale

has anyone gone?

im thinking about it.. but id like to hear about it from students... let me know :)

I have. If you have any specific Qs, you can send me a private message.

My son went during the summer between freshman and soph years (he's now a freshman in college). He really had a great time...he said the academics were totally fun and unpressured, and the social life, leisure activities and college living made it great.

I went to explo 2004! It was a fun summer-camp type of thing. It wasn't as academic as I thought it was going to be, though. Even though there are short assignments, they cannot require you to do anything. I took the supreme court class, and I learned a lot. It was also really interesting to meet people from all over the world (Bulgaria, Peru, Greece, etc.) I think that I got a lot from it, not to mention three weeks living at Yale!

hey from what ive heard explo is great if ur looking for a more structured, but less intensive summer program. i did the yale summer session this summer, and i must say we made fun of the explo kids all the time (sorry!) it was just funny that they got locked in at like 8:00 and the counselors like yelled at them for crossing the street on a red light.

Haha I did JSA at Yale this summer and we all made fun of explo kids too...again, sorry, but we would always pass Old Campus on the way to our 6 hour classes and see Explo kids laying in the grass, and the only things on their schedule would be "basket weaving" and "cloud watching" and "abs class" (no joke! i have a picture of an explo schedule if you would like to see)

Jli, you keep dissing Explo without knowing anything about it. Could I kindly ask you to stop *****ing about stuff you aren't familiar wth, or is that too much?

Sorry if I offended you, jhudora...I'm simply stating what my (and every other JSA summer student) thought of the explo kids, based on our outside viewpoint of seeing you guys at Commons and Old Ccampus. I'm sure you were all very intelligent people but it was just funnier to assume you weren't. Again, sorry.

Ok,accepted.
