I'm not one to start up a new thread but I've exhausted the search engine and couldn't find a clear answer (or perhaps I'm just a bad searcher haha).

Do high school extracurriculars bear any weight whatsoever in applications?

I did a decent amount of EC's in HS but haven't really done much in CC.

eriku I have the same exact question. I REALLYY hope they take into consideration what I did in high school since I did way more stuff than in CC, let’s hope for the best. they did ask for stuff that we did 5 years up to now so it better count. I wish you and everyone else luck. and unfort I don’t have an answer to your question the only thing I can say is that I hope that they like what we did and tin my case take into consideration that although my extracuricular has been weak and without transcript notations like ALPHA GAMMA SIGMA if anyone has heard about it, I hope they dont mind. Best of luck, and hope we can get accepted. to be honest, out of everything this is what mostly would prevent me from having a shot, I did everything I could with good gpa, finishing pre reqs for my major, good essays, IGETC, so I hope to get in. what major are you? i am global studies for ucla!

chesser - I am an anthropology major applying this fall. I also hope they take it into consideration because although I’m slightly involved on campus, my HS extracurriculars definitely outshine my current ones.

I’m assuming you’re waiting on UCLA. Good luck!

hey erikuh yeah iam waiting for ucla. yeah same case here. i havent really done much in CC, in high school I was outstanding so let’s see what happens. are you a physical or cultural antho major? what was your gpa as of fall? I hope we can get in days are ticking and we’re in April finally

cultural. I was also interested in physical but the 15 pre-reqs were impossible for me to complete within 1 1/2 years.

I went to an OOS school in Fall so I’m pretty unsure as to what my GPA is as of now since I’m pretty sure a bunch of classes aren’t UC transferable. My major has a fairly low acceptance average of 3.48 though so I’m just working to surpass that.

Hey guys…yeah I’m also in the same situation. Most of my EC’s were from high school, but I really didn’t have a choice because I’m a one-year transfer student, and didn’t have much to write at the time applications were due. Hopefully they’ll be ok with our HS work.
