Many of you might think that I'm to young to worry about this, but I just finished my Freshman year, and I recieved less than great grades!

First semester, I got a B+ in math. Second semester, I got a B. I also got an A- in Tech Skills.

Now... the Tech Skills A- is COMPLETE bull crap! I had the highest grade in my class, and the teacher was insanely tough. Our school doesn't let you switch teachers, and basically if you got the teacher I had you wouldnt get higher than a B (I proved them wrong by taking him to the principal many times, and missed the cut off by an A by .2%...) If I got any of the other teachers I would have gotten an easy A, prolly 98/99%.

I am SO worried that these to low grades will impact my future forever! Ive never recieved anything lower than an A before! Future years arent a problem, but this hurts my rank, my val / sal status... etc!

Should I be worried about this? (My dream school is UPenn, btw.)

It won’t really hurt you as long as you have straight A’s for the rest of your school career. But, what will hurt you is your emotional roller coaster, be more stoic about your academics if you want to get into the Ivy League. Thereupon 1. Chill out 2. Focus on your ECs.

What the hell, dude? What’s “not appropriate” is accusing Brady of having low grades, and that being the reason for him telling you to TAKE A CHILL PILL.

wow, that comment shows how immature you are. If you have only completed one year of high school you need to get off this forum since you aren’t applying to college any time soon.

Sorry BestCandidate, you are not going to college. Your best choices right now would be to start a fry cook career at McDonalds and maybe if your lucky you can get a lower management position in a few years. Best of luck, though.

Blakebengals, read my post before this. I didn’t come to this board for people to tell me to “get off because Im a sophmore,” or to be upset when Im worried about a B.

If you haven’t noticed, the schools I’m looking for are competitive. If I start worrying about it now, prepping for the ACT in any spare time I can get, etc… won’t that put me better off?

Freshman SHOULD start worrying about college. Why wait?

Edit: MPD14, haha that made me laugh. I know I CAN be a “worry wart” … but I know its not that bad! My friends and I joke about that all the time when I get a bad grade in geometry haha.

BestCandidate, I doubt it will hurt you in the long-run. As long as you maintain a 3.8 gpa, I’m sure your safe (with good ECs, that is). Additionally, you might want to focus on grammar and spelling more; for example, “freshmans” is not a word. (Just to let you know, by the way.)

Worrying about college won’t help you get into college. Being relaxed, and studying will help you get into college (and studying requires not being on this forum). besides, even if you didnt come on for people to tell you to get off it’s when you’fe going to get.

lol, BestCandidate. Well, from seeing a few stats, I can recall that about a 3.83 is average for UPenn. Why are you so interested in UPenn though?

Well clearly an abysmal freshman year will keep you from being val, so you’ve already cut your chance of admission in half. If you work hard for the rest of your high school career, you may be able to convince them you’re a good student, but you may want to start lowering your sights to some state schools, because you probably won’t be able to get in elsewhere. Seriously, get off this forum until you are getting ready to apply. Stop thinking about colleges, just try to do the best you can and see where you end up the summer before senior year.
