^ Myspace is lame...it's horribly over-commercialized and (sometimes sickeningly) superficial. i used to use Myspace quite a bit in high school, but i pretty much stopped when i realized how much better Facebook was, at least for a university student. it's harder to have a personality "facade" because all profiles are more or less similar without stifling your own character...and to me it feels more rooted in the real world.

anyways...yeah when you're really bored and nothing's going on, some nights just turn into "refresh" sessions haha. when i'm doing homework, i close my browser window as often as possible to keep me from getting distracted.

facebook used to be very good. It's like a small society online where you only see ur college friends (people of ur age, and they are all college students with .edu mail account so they aren't that stupid). That's the advantage over other online network stuff like myspace ... Now they open to the public and it sucks. Many People including myself stopped using it because of this reason. They made a mistake to open to public.

facebook honestly hasn't changed all that much in most circles since the opening to the public. you really don't notice people who aren't in your network.

Well, of course they are going to open it up to the public; if you were the creator, you'd do anything for the money. More people=more people to advertise to.
Facebook was sold for $1 billion, wasn't it?
Well, I just looked on Yahoo! and I guess it wasn't sold...they were in talks with Yahoo! to sell it for $1 billion. Facebook's annual revenues are more than $100 million.

Facebook is much better than Myspace, I agree with whoever said that.

Myspace is fine unless you use those stupid layouts. They only work on half the browsers, cause the page to scroll funny, and make everything slow. The same goes for embedded movies. If you get lots of spam, just report it. Usually the spammer will get their account taken away.

Facebook is addicting, yes, for me mostly because of groups. I post way too much in forums on there.

I have both facebook and myspace. there are pros and cons to each of them. personally i like myspace better because you can put music and videos on myspace.

i think that's exactly what's wrong with Myspace...those things make browsing Myspace much slower and especially much more obnoxious. if i wanted to hear music, i would have opened a media player and listen to music i like...most of the time i end up racing to hit the pause button on most people's profile players. Facebook keeps things simple and less annoying.

i think you can put pretty much anything up on facebook now (videos, music, blogs ...) all the online networking sites started to become similar in those aspects. Some myspace profiles made me feel like I'm browsing a po rn site.

The last time I checked facebook, it became a true stalking tool. There were updates like "this friend broke up with this friend", "this guy just put blah blah blah as his interest" ... Nothing wrong with that, it's just more like a stalking place than a friends connection.

But again, they wanted more money so they open to the public. I thought the thing differentiates facebook from others is the college student networks. Bring back the old days of facebook!

yeah, but since you can hide stories you only see what your friends want you to see. I used to hate the newsfeed, but it's actually a lot easier than always having to look at peoples pages to see if they updated. and I just hide any stories I don't want out.
