Fact or Fiction: Dual Enrolled High Schoolers receive admissions decisions later?

I’ve been hearing that students who are expected to graduate with their AA degree receive their admissions decisions even later than February (when normal freshman decisions come out). In my case not only will I get my AA but I’m going to have over 100 credit hours from my CC so I’m wondering if this rumor is true. The wait is going to kill me! It’s going to be hard watching my mates getting accepted and then not being able to know for months longer. It also makes it hard to get off campus housing :frowning:

I am curious as well as I am also a dual student with a lot of credit hours. I am also a three year graduate so I am not sure if that will affect when I get my admission decision. I have heard that as a three year graduate UF will contact me for my mid year grades. I was wondering if anyone knows if being a three year graduate delays admission notice as my mid year grades will not be available till mid-December (that is when my final grades are posted at my CC).

In the past, that has been the case for some students who had earned an AA in high school. The admission process is different, as they also have to be accepted by their college/major. From past post on this forum, it looks like an additional week or so for “some” students. It really isn’t that much longer. :slight_smile:

If UF can admit you as a freshman, you’ll get your answer when all of the other freshmen get theirs (Feb 10th for this year). If you aren’t offered admission as a freshman then UF will look at you as a transfer student. This is where college GPA and prereqs taken come into play. When you get an answer depends on what major you choose - colleges have different criteria (some rolling some lean towards pooling).

What does it take to be admitted as a freshman? Will I be unable to be admitted as a freshman solely because of how many credits I have or are there other factors that come into play?

@Melissa96 See above :slight_smile:

I am a 3 year graduate doing dual enrollment, should I have contacted UF with my semester grades?

I am also a 3 year graduate doing dual enrollment. I updated my SSAR with my mid year grades since I am graduating early. However, I saw on the UF Admissions twitter page that their system is not updated with mid year grades:

@SarahGonzalez8 it will not update our system; however, if you need to update it for another school it’s fine.

I emailed UF but was wondering if anyone could advise. @Melissa96

@UFgogators 3 year grads are a small special subset population that updates their SSAR when no one else does. You got the generic answer because you didn’t indicate that you are a 3 year grad.

@Melissa96 No one contacted me to update my SSAR as you have said in previous posts. I also directly messaged UF Admissions on twitter and mentioned that I was a three year graduate. Here is the message and reply:

I updated my SSAR with my fall semester grades and was wondering if the grades will be considered as I am a three year graduate. I saw in your replies that updating the SSAR does not update your system.

Please let me know.
Thank you,

That is correct. We do not review senior year grades. Thx!

It sounds like you are not actually coded as a 3 year grad in the system. I would send an email to freshman@ufl.edu containing your name and UFID. That will allow them to look specifically at your information since you name is fairly common.

@Melissa96 I did email freshman@ufl.edu about mid year grades for 3 year graduates twice, but I never received a reply. I also included my name and UFID. I’m not sure what you mean about my name being common.
