I just got my letter saying I receieved the faculty award for $4000, over 4 years. I have a 3.0 GPA going into senior year but my senior year grades are nearly all A's. I also have 1310 SAT. Any chance they might increase my scholorship or will it stand as is. I got into Illinois - Urbana, Wisconsin - Madison, and Maryland - College Park. I would really like to attend Indiana, but right now there seems to be no incentive. Any chance i might get the 28k?

You can call them to appeal it, but I wouldn't give you very good odds.

No, the only way you could have appealed is if you sent stuff in by February 1st. That was their appeals deadline. What you can do instead is ask them to reconsider your aid package, and they'd possibly add in a Indiana University Grant. That is if you qualified for aid.

well the university grant is overseen by the office of admissions, i asked about it for the financial aid office and they said ask admissions cuase their in charge of tat. also they give the grants to sophomores-seniors who had recieved it in the previous years and im guesing wen they got leftover money, they give it to the freshman class.

Dcho - Did you have any luck with the aid/admissions office? Or did they just turn you down?

Did you apply to any other OOS schools that have given you more aid? What about Miami, who's sticker price is even more than IU? It's better for them to compare awards with a similar school tuition-wise than a State U.

well ima find out about the university grant tomorrow and how to recieve one and im waiting for my Selective Scholarship application result by end of march, im probaly gonaa be considered for the Hudson Scholarship and some various Kelley Business School Scholarships. So the results of my app. and the info. about the grant will pretty much make or break me for IU. miami's offer was 22,000 including grants/loans/work study and their 40,000+ so i was screw tat and miami isnt even my 2nd or 3rd choice. so far ive got all my results from all the schools ive applied to heh and i got accepted to all of em no rejections :) so ive got ALOT of choices. ill make my final decision in the middle of april since ive got to decide where to go by may 1.

well found out about the university grant, apparently its need AND merit based and is done by the IU scholarship clearing house(i found this out from the financial aid office who referred me to admissions who then referred me to the scholarship clearinghouse). whats weird is that the financial aid office says that a student has had to recieve this award in the previous year in order to recieve it for 4 years and then they said incoming freshman do not get this award... tats confusing, didnt the students that are sophomores-seniors have had to recieve this award when they were incoming freshman so that they can renew it for 4 years????? im assuming the reason why none of us got this grant is because the financial aid office isnt in charge of it. the only good news is that the university grant doesnt consider residency when giving it to students. my best bet is that the university grant and the other scholarships are based on the selective scholarship application because when i sent tat in, it also asked if i was gona submit the fafsa and if i was a first generation college student. aniwayz if anione has some more info. please post. :)

oh well, guess I won't be going to Indiana unless I'm amazed when I visit. I don't qualify for financial aid and to be honest I wont be paying for any of my college, just thought it might be nice to save the folks some money cause they are paying nearly 50k a year for my sister at UPENN and my brother will be going to college after me as well. Oh well, looks like Wisconsin may be winning out right now.

well guapocarlos did u get the selective scholarship application? u shud still wait until the results of that before you give up :) did wisconsin give u enuf money

I did not get the selective scholorship application and Wisconsin has offered me nothing but it seems to be the best school academically and socially that I have been accepted to. I am still considering Indiana because it has a strong Political Science department. I am also still waiting on Michigan, but other than the 4k scholorship from Indiana I am not expecting anything in the form of financial aid from any other schools.

eh bad news, the university grant program expired couple years back and only those who recieved the grant can still recieve one. prety much the university grant funding was probaly depleted and incoming freshman probaly cant get one even if they were qualified :(.

hi, you might want to be sure you can't appeal it, I say that because I know someone else in your exact shoes and she was successful in getting more $$, do check to be sure and let them know its your first choice if you can get more financing. A fellow classmate of mine just got back from visiting, she visited villanova, gw and indiana. she said it was the most beautiful campus of any she has seen, i too am seriously considering going.
