Fafsa correction questions! will they accept it?

Oka, so I forgot to put my saving accounts amounts, and I didn't put the state tax. I also left out a lot of part out because I wasn't so sure.
I made a correction today, and although there is only $1400 difference from the original one. (original 20k)

If i send in the corrected form of fafsa right now(I know it's so late), will the colleges still accept it, and make my FA packet according to that adjusted form, not the original one? even though I send it wayy past the deadline?

Of course the original fafsa was turned in before mar. 3rd.

Or did they already make my FA packet out of the original one, and do not willing to change?
I just don't want the incorrect Fafsa result to be used..

but the college decision is like, 4 days away.. so I'm so freaked out right now.

ohh, and what happens if i already got my FA aids from other colleges? can I appeal to them?
Or do i just send fafsa again to them? will they change my package?

that happened to me also.

i am not sure, but my fin aid package is not available yet

Your final FA package will be based on your final (correct) FAFSA. If they have made any preliminary awards based on your initial FAFSA they will eventually adjust it.

But there is nowhere on FAFSA to report State tax so I am not sure what you are doing there.

I bet the OP means US income tax paid… using “state” in a more generic way. (This is probably a language issue.)

AHopeful2014, just re-submit the FAFSA with your corrections. It’ll be fine. The schools will make an adjustment to reflect the corrections. As long as you got your first FAFSA submitted on time, it’ll be fine. This isn’t all that late for corrections.

You’ll probably get a preliminary award at first with your acceptances. The college you decide to attend will make the adjustment later. It won’t be done by the time the acceptance letters are out, but that’s okay. Not a problem.

Thank you so much guys, I was so worried about it.
Yeah, I thought State tax would be included in a general income tax :]

You guys are amazing:] I hope all of you guys get into the prominent colleges and collect the fruits of your tears and perspiration!

Just to clarify (it is late and I am tired and possibly confused):

You enter actual federal taxes from your federal tax return on FAFSA. The taxes on FAFSA must agree with the taxes on your federal tax return (IRS 1040, or 1040a, or 1040ez)

You do not enter any state taxes from your State tax return on FAFSA.

So, once you’ve submitted corrections to your FAFSA, do you get a new SAR with a new EFC?

“I hope all of you guys get into the prominent colleges and collect the fruits of your tears and perspiration!”
hahahahah : )

:'( My dad filed his FAFSA incorrectly and only realized it when he called the FAFSA people today. So our EFC is much higher than it should be. We are planning to correct it tomorrow and call the colleges on Monday. I already recieved most of my FinAid offers so I’m hoping they will still adjust it. My question is, when will they let me know their new offers (if they give me one). Will it most likely be before the May 1st deadline?
Also, is there a way to corrected the CSS Profile? I don’t know if anything is wrong with ours but after the FAFSA trouble, I wouldn’t be suprised if there were mistakes.
The really sad thing is that my dad is studying to be an accountant…
I guess this student aid business is in a category of its own.

I think it depends on the college.
The schools I applied to offer financial aid to those accepted later from the waitlist. This would mean they actually go through financial information again later in the year. Also, the deadlines were priority deadlines and not exactly final. So if you applied to places in any way like mine, you should be fine.
For the most accurate response though, contacting the schools would be most feasible, although I’m sure you already know that lol.
Good luck with your fin aid, and you too DoReMi!
