FAFSA selective service 17 yr old

I’m 17 and while I was filling out my FAFSA I checked yes to the question about registering for selective service since you need to in order to receive federal aid. However, while reviewing the Student Aid Report it said I didn’t meet the criteria to register for SS and that I needed to make a correction.

Do I make the correction? Will my fafsa process If I leave the question of registering with selective service blank? Do I ignore what the SAR said?

He may be too young. He can register as early as 9 months before his 18th birthday, but if he turned 17 within the past 3 months it may be too soon.
