<p>My DS is not 18 yet and thus ineligible to sign up for selective service. However, the financial aid application requires this because of his gender. Will this hurt his chances of financial aid? </p>

<p>He can submit a registration at 17 years 3 months. </p>

<p>Or, on fafsa I believe there’s an option to have him registered when he’s old enough. </p>

<p>He can say “no” to the “are you registered” question on the FAFSA, and then “yes” to the “do you want us to register you” question. They will register him when the time is right.</p>
