Failing a few classes in first semester of college

I am an international student going to Boston University and have received low grades for 2 (and maybe 3 not sure) out of my 4 classes in my first semester of freshman year. I am struggling to adapt to the new requirements and demands but am getting there. I was wondering if there was a chance of getting expelled or warned? What happens when you don’t pass all of your classes? Again, I am just learning how the system functions.

I can’t answer that, but I would ask you if you have fully explored the opportunities for assistance. I am not sure what aspect of the curriculum you are struggling with, but have you talked to your professors during office hours to brainstorm methods to improve? Have you explored the tutoring opportunities (especially in writing skills) available at BU? Have you investigated any support for your specific international group on campus? Just some ideas? You also might want to review Cal Newport’s book on succeeding in college - lots of practical suggestions.

I’m curious…what about the “system” is so different that your high school?

Here is BU’s policy on Academic Standing. Read it thoroughly.
